The effects of lone working...
At HWA we are mindful that our once vibrant offices and the support that these once offered can now seem very different and these employees are now classed as lone workers. According to the Office of National Statistics in April 2020, 46.6% of people in employment now did some work at home.
Our assessor is also a trained Display Screen Equipment (DSE) assessor and can help to ensure that the home office set up is fit for purpose and able to offer specialist advice, training and guidance, in line with Health and Safety (Display Screen Regulations 2002). The HWA Wellbeing Assessment - is an additional step towards minimising risk/reducing absence rates in relation to workstation discomfort.
Maintaining good Mental Health...
In our experience a great way to ensure we maintain good mental health is to take a mental health check-up. Our assessor is a Mental Health First Aider (MHFA).
Our ‘Wellbeing Assessments’ cover both the physical aspects of home working and the psychological. Home working can cause work-related stress and affect people’s mental health. Being away from managers and colleagues could make it difficult to get proper support.
It is vital that we address the mental health of our homeworkers, for those with existing issues, for those at risk and for everyone in the workforce as a whole. According to the Mental Health Foundation addressing wellbeing at work increases productivity by as much as 12%.
The Mental Health Check-up allows us to look into our homeworkers wellbeing a little further, therefore allowing us to signpost any relevant issues accordingly, for long term overall mental health wellbeing.
